Internet of Things Applications in Power Distribution Systems

Nowadays, Internet of Things (IoT) are usually used in power distribution systems to effectively integrate and improve the information level, utilization of the power infrastructure, devices interaction facilities, and promote the services of advanced information and communication systems in the power distribution system. This session is focused on the service-oriented IoT sensors, and information communications technologies in power distribution systems.

The sub-topics to be covered within the issue should be provided:

  • IoT demands and implications on sensors technologies used in power distribution systems

  • IoT demands and implications on big data management used in power distribution systems

  • Service-oriented IoT architectures used in power distribution systems

  • IoT service middleware, IoT application programming interface (API), IoT application design, and IoT trials/experiments

  • Fault detection, location, isolation and service restoration in power distribution systems

  • Smart meters and information communications technologies in power distribution systems

  • Relay protection technologies in power distribution systems integrating high levels of renewable energy and battery storage resources
